"When I was a girl my father died and my mother was left to raise four girls...she had no understanding of auto-shops, dealership, mechanics, and during those years women were often preyed upon by men looking to make a quick buck. After being turned away from several new car dealerships we ended up on the 'seedy-side' of town. Bad mustaches and large unkept beehives permeated every sales office we visited. We eventually made our way back to the bus stop. Very deflated my mother went without a car for more than two months. It was around this time that an older lady in our church heard about our predicament and being the widow of an old war mechanic she took us under her wing. 

For two weekends straight she took us to every sales lot in town, opened every hood, taught us what each part was (and what to look for), and the condition of the vehicle. The third weekend she refused to come with us and told us to go get our car. It was very empowering to watch my mother haggle, and point out obvious...and not so obvious flaws. In the end, we ended up with a very nice mustang that ended up becoming my son's car a few years back. It had the original 289 (which my husband helped bore-out to 302). The point was, this kind old woman taught five younger women how to evaluate value...it's what led me to work for Pinnacle."
